Open an existing database by choosing "Open..." from the File menu.
To compose your map, select "Choose Overlays..." from the Atlas menu. You will be presented with a list of the available overlays. Those currently shown will be selected. Select or deselect overlays from the list. If you make a number of selections and decide you want to start over again, click the "Revert" button and the list of overlays will change back to the same set of selections you started out with. To see only the most important overlays, click the "Default" button.
To find out the areas into which you may zoom, choose "Show Subareas" from the Atlas menu. Select the area into which you want to zoom by clicking on it with the mouse. Then choose "Zoom In" from the Atlas menu. If you change your mind, just click on a different subarea before choosing "Zoom In."
You can avoid going to "Show Subareas" by clicking directly on the area you want to zoom into with the mouse. If zooming is possible, the outline of the subarea will appear and you can zoom by choosing "Zoom In" or by typing Command-I.
"Zoom In" enlarges the subarea you have selected to give you greater detail. If there is even more detail available, you will be able to continue zooming into smaller and smaller areas. The level to which you may zoom is limited only by the contents of the database.
Choosing "Zoom Out" gets you back to the level where you were before you zoomed in.
Choosing "Zoom to Top" gets you directly back to the largest view, no matter how how many levels you have zoomed in. Use it as a shortcut to the top. You will get the same map as when you first opened the database.
